I have a question about this review:
マンガ 、新聞を読むこと、 どちらが 好きですか。

Between reading manga and reading the newspaper, which do you like? [polite]

Is the こと performing two functions, as the second と and also as こと meaning thing?

Sorry for the late answer :bowing_man:

It is not こと performing two functions, but simply the fact that last とwhen listing things(in “and” function) can be omitted. (and it is generally the case in casual speech)
AとBと…N(と)
Since どちら/どっち are used mostly with two choices, it means that in this case the second と can be omitted.
AとB(と) You can use comma instead “AとB、”

By the way, for stylistic reasons,

マンガと新聞(と/、)どちらを読むのが好きですか。
マンガを読むとこと と 新聞を読むこと(と/、) どちらが好きですか?

are more natural.

By the way, の and こと in this grammar point are nominalizers - basically, those two change verbs into nouns.

どういたしまして :+1:

Should this one accept the answer without the と?

苦いコーヒー甘いコーヒーとどちらが好みですか。

I tried without it and it didn’t work.

Sorry :bowing_man:

It should be working now! :+1:

@mrnoone

犯人は逃げるの 、警察に行くのどちらがを選ぶでしょう。

I answered with とどちら because を is already there and this answer was accepted. But another accepted answer apparently is とどちらが. Is that actually valid? How can you have が and を back to back like that?
