Yes, auto-playing audio.
It’s working when I review grammar.
But it is not working when I review vocabulary deck.

Feature Suggestion: Shadowing Mode for Cram
The Cram feature is a fantastic tool - thank you for building it!
I often find myself in hands-free situations throughout the day while running errands, driving, doing chores, or exercising. During these times, I can’t interact with my phone to mark answers as correct or incorrect, but I’d love to use this time to reinforce grammar and vocabulary I’ve bookmarked in Bunpro.
Would you consider adding a fifth Cram Type called “Shadowing”? It would function similarly to the existing “Listening” mode, but with one key difference: users wouldn’t need to grade their responses. Instead, the audio would simply auto-play, then proceed to the next item in the set. This would create a smooth, uninterrupted review experience - perfect for passive or semi-passive study sessions.
Additional custom settings for the Shadowing Cram Type could include:
- Voice speed and gender preferences.
- Number of repetitions for each audio item before moving on.
- Set a delay between each audio reading. For example, pause for [SET_NUMBER_OF] seconds to allow the user to repeat the sentence before playing the audio file again.
- Choose the maximum length of audio files to use: [MAXIMUM_LENGTH = XX_SECONDS]. When shadowing, it can be helpful to use shorter sentences to focus on a single vocab/grammar point. If the sentence is too long, it can still be good for listening comprehension practice, but less useful for shadowing.

For preloading audio, unfortunately I’m one of those who would prefer to have a way of turning the preloading off, as I don’t normally listen during reviews, so it just seems to be slowing everything down, and I guess it’s also taking up my valuable data when doing reviews out and about.
For example, after completing a review, I often want to check all the English translations of the vocab in question before moving on, but instead I often get stuck on “Loading”, I think because it’s still trying to preload the audio, and sometimes give up

Preloading audio and loading the Info stuff is completely separate!
One shouldn’t be affecting the other.

If there’s a way to turn off the preloading, I’d still really appreciate it, as I sometimes only have limited phone resources/data available, like at the end of the month

I’ve added a check, so (if you’re on a Chromium browser) and have Data Saving mode On, it won’t preload the audio.

This is such an indisputable point that as a learner I cannot really argue.
But even after several months of listening to the new Bunpro audio I still stumble on every pause after possessive の, and some others.
E.g.:
７０年代の（pause）エネルギー危機は…
サービス業の（pause）マネージャーを任されている私にとって、…
My new hypothesis is that it has something to do with intonation and context.
When would I expect (or add myself) a pause after possessive の?
Only when adding an emphasis or looking for a word.
For example:
A: 仕事は何していますか？
B: サービス業のぉ（pause）えっと、マネージャーですね
In this case there will be a distinct intonation of の to mark that I’m taking a moment to think, so that the listener knows to wait a moment.
With Bunpro I’m probably expecting a prepared sentence, not an impromptu conversational response, and the intonation is flat, and the locations don’t seem like they add a meaningful emphasis.
So these pauses end up sounding like just taking a breath. At which point is a pause really necessary 1 word into the sentence.
Maybe it’ll fall into place for me after hearing at least one non-Bunpro source voiced in a similar way.
If you figure the aim here is to sound somewhat like a natural Japanese conversation then it’s likely you won’t hear this kind of speech pattern outside of having a conversation (or overhearing one) in Japanese somewhere in the wild. All the other content is prepared for reading, or is expressed for dramatic effect and so won’t have this behaviour (or it’ll be hugely over emphasised I guess in some cases)

As an audio person, I really liked it when this update came out, since it’s loud clear and consistent.
Going through my lessons and practice over time though, there’s a certain charm and perhaps some usefulness about the older recordings with lower quality, that I can’t seem to put my finger on. I think maybe because I want to challenge myself listening to subpar environments, or perhaps the way older voices slur words together?
I hope there’s a way for users to still opt in for older audio recordings later on.
