First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the developers, designers, and everyone working on this site for making this incredible Japanese learning tool!
Among the many—and honestly overwhelming—options available, I have found Bunpro to be the most complete and effective method for learning Japanese. However, I believe there are a few areas that, if implemented, could take the platform to the next level.
Currently, the site covers:
- Hiragana/Katakana
- Grammar
- Conjugation
- Vocabulary
- Mock exams
- Kanji (covered WaniKani, but Bunpro integrates it so i’ll count it in)
Even thought this is admittedly alot but it still doesn’t cover some aspects mainly:
Listening: There are currently no dedicated listening exercises. This could be implemented in several ways: fill-in-the-blanks based on audio, retyping a dictated sentence, or answering comprehension questions about an audio clip.
- Sentence structure - similar to doulingo and lingodeer (both of which are not very good so I can’t really use them) where you are given an english sentence with a few blocks and you have to build it in the right order.
Both of these area don’t need to be SRS but can be made into levels or be their own minigame.
Thank you again for all your hard work. Are there any plans to implement features similar to these in the future? Additionally, if anyone has recommendations for resources that cover these missing areas in the meantime, I would be very grateful!
it’s good to use varied resources to get a well rounded study routine
