Failed N3 again

I did take almost all the practice JLPT tests on Bunpro. I was scoring fairly well (70-80%), which is why I had confidence in the test. But as we all know, come test day my performance must have taken a dive. I’d say in most cases, if you’re consistently scoring 80% you’re okay, but be honest with yourself about any test-anxiety you might have.

And thank you for your advice! I plan to incorporate more TV shows into my retinue. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you everyone for your advice so far! I definitely needed it :sob:

I’m feeling better after a week, and I’m motivated to continue studying. I won’t focus so much on JLPT levels (I don’t think I’ll attempt it again in at least a year).

And thank you for those who encouraged me. I am satisfied with my level of Japanese practically, as it can get me through daily life and conversation. Of course, it’s not perfect, but I can communicate what I want, so I should feel proud of that. I wish the JLPT could test those abilities!!

I will not solely rely on the JLPT as an indicator of my language ability

Heck. I had two (minor) panic attacks in the bathroom during the breaks when I took the N4 years ago. Passed, but N3 is a different, even scarier beast :sob::sob::sob:

Anyways, I don’t do TV most of the time even in English, but I hope it helps you out! I feel like the important part is resisting the urge to look stuff up while you’re watching, so that’s why I like going to the theater, but that can get expensive…

And yeah, I agree that you must have plenty of communicative skills to actually be able to hold a conversation without stuttering through every second word, and you should be proud of those! The JLPT isn’t an end-all thing (… Unless you’re one of the people that the government decided, “Yeah, surprise! This status of residency application suddenly requires N2! Take the test now or we’ll reject you!”)
