I couldn't stay consistent

Well, Im referring more to my block, I have other issues with my location WITHIN the Jet program but not my town, of which Im alone. Im awkwardly far away from my actual Block that it would be easier for me to hang with the block next door.
I just pulled the shit stick when it came to community within the program but alas

We say Consistentcy.

Continuity means ‘timeline’ and has a closer meaning to “fantasy world”
like “Soul was released after Toy Story, but it’s earlier in the pixar continuity/timeline”
or
“I’m disapointed sims 4 broke the continuity/timeline”.
What does that mean?
Sims 1-3 are in the same world and then the sims 4 is in a different world

Canon means “it’s in the book” originally about the Bible, but now used for all fictional works.

continuity at first means these things all happened, and are connected from past to future.

Lot’s of video games aren’t contiguous. If you restart, it didn’t happen.
Undertale and Dokidoki are contiguous, if you restart, the characters remember.

Hope you don’t mind me going full ALT on you 🫣//

Hi,

One of the first goals I set for myself was to be able to read an easy article on NHK News (Easy) without any external help. When I say read, I don’t necessarily mean fully understand the entire text. For shorter-term goals, for example with kanji learning, I tell myself that each week my objective is to integrate around 25–30 kanji into my learning through immersion, and then add them into Anki. I also aim to reach a retention rate as close as possible to 90% for these new kanji. In the end, it’s a lot of small goals which, when put together, help me stay motivated.

That said, this type of goal might not be viable for you, so you’ll need to find goals that fit your own learning methods and that actually work for you.

Thank you for taking the time to tell me about your goal setting.
For me, it felt like adding a series of little adventures to the learning journey.

I struggled with being consistent. I wouldn’t have gotten this far without a great teacher who I am fortunate to be able to afford (and the cost makes me guilty if I don’t study myself!)

Measurable statistics help me. Even better, being able to measurably feel progress helps a lot. Bunpro’s statistics are really motivating.

Over 8 years I’ve been through slumps of feeling like I’m against a wall - I have enough experience to know that I’ll overcome that wall and I’m constantly making progress.

If I learn 10 words a day (I currently know ~10k words) then that’s 0.1% better at Japanese each day. 10 days, 1%. 100 days, 10%. There’s a very real cumulative effect. Learning vocab was a huge step to improve proficiency for reading.

Being good enough to enjoy media natively helps. Getting there is hard, but it’s motivating to be there.

I think that a lot of the time your comprehension level really isn’t deteriorating as much as you think. It’s just that your momentum gets interrupted so it takes more energy the next day to start which causes it to feel like it takes disproportionate energy (and so more difficult) to finish.

But your conclusion is definitely the right one. Getting something done preserves momentum even if what you actually do isn’t significant.
