I think the tool is very useful; I’ve gotten a lot of benefit from it already and I am thankful for all the work the Bunpro team has put into it.

However, I do find myself wishing it was more integrated with the Bunpro main site, both from a visual perspective and also just not having to open a separate tab for it.

Just made a few UI changes. Mobile is a bit trickier, especially on iPad since it doesnt behave as mobile exactly, and because this uses pixel art it affects the layout even more. :wilted_flower:

Let me know if the UI feels better. In my opinion it’s more readable now, with everything grouped in one place.

Tried it out and it’s great!

Love the fact we can limit vocab to what we’ve already studied - great reinforcement. Another reason to appreciate the WaniKani sync.

Can I please request a “alternates” button like we have in grammar reviews?

I did get one wrong where I was pretty sure it was a valid alternative… but it is in beta so hopefully that can be solved. Having a “report” button would help us to help you there.

sometimes, when i click on the “redo this level” button, i get questions on different grammar instead of repeating the same grammar.

what i love: the kaijugator link on the grammar points  learning the grammar first and after that do some conjugating exercises really helps  i didn’t notice a link back to the grammar page, though. if i chose a grammar point to practice on and notice after the game that i need to brush up on it, it would be nice to have a direct link back. but maybe i just haven’t seen it

I second this.

Agree. I don’t mind since I mostly use mobile, but if I have a tab open at work or similar a toned down visual would make it far more appealing.

I’d add that the relatively plain, but stylish and visually appealing design of the Bunpro website is one of its strong suits compared to other offerings.

So adjacent to this and one of the things I struggle with on JLPT tests is Prefix / Suffix usage. The 新完全マスター文法 N2/N1 book does an OKish job covering it, but I think a tool like this could help shore up understanding gaps and increase intuition.

Things like っぽい are both suffixes and conjugations, and that overlap triggered my thinking to post this.

Some more suggestions:

  1. The use of cookies to store settings across sessions (it seems like it’s not the case currently but that might just be my machine’s settings, disregard if that’s the case)
  2. A link to this thread in the game’s menu :upside_down_face:

Thanks a lot for an already great tool @Fernando-Bunpro

Hi! I was just trying out this:

But in the game it only asks for the stem:

Was expecting it to ask me to add the stem to に行く from the first question but it didn’t for several questions. I didn’t finish the game, just exited so I’m not sure if it will change later. It just didn’t seem right.

Also, when I selected this, it said “That’s odd, no data was found”

I was just checking out the game for the first time and wish there was a way to turn off the answer timer (or maybe there is and I can’t find it?). I feel like it’s mostly timing how fast I can type correctly, which is not the point of the game. Timers in games just stress me out in general and I don’t need more of that.

Edit: OK, I found the option to turn off the timer buried in free play mode, but not when going through level select. Can we have the option in both modes, please?

You can use Caps Lock to switch between Hiragan and Katakana, but it doesn’t accept the answer if you try to match the given example:

Not sure if this is for all mixed kana examples, so unsure if this is an isolated bug or not.

I had the opposite happen where it would ONLY accept it exactly as written

Heya
Any idea when this game will be available on the Android app ? I never quite managed to install a proper Japanese keyboard on my computer so it’s pretty frustrating trying to play it from there

This is great. I’ve been using a different program that is less updated and not as great looking. However one request I have is to be able to turn off フリガナ. I feel confident in the kanji that I know and sometimes it feel like cheating when I see it, my eyes just drift to it and then I feel cheated. Would be great to add that toggle or get that setting from my bunpro settings. (or just make it so you have to mouse over it to see フリガナ.)

Added a few features for Kaijugation didn’t really announce them here, so here’s a quick summary of some of the new features:

  • Freeplay configuration share link: You can share the link or bookmark your specific configuration and have it ready whenever you want to drill!
  • Furigana toggle in freeplay menu: This uses your Bunpro furigana settings by default, but you can always change it locally in the Freeplay menu.
  • Discrete mode button (in-session): Hide the Kaiju during your session if you’d rather keep things distraction-free. :c
  • Updated Freeplay menu layout and other visual fixes.

I appreciate being able to hide the kaiju not because it was distracting but because it was garnering some strange looks at work lol

I am a little bit late to the party since i didnt realize that this feature excists. A question that is floating around in my mind is :. do we get batches once it is leaving the beta?

I checked it out and it would be nice if you can adjust the timelimit to a certain degree. The current one is really generous and just comes into play if i want to research the correct answer while the internet gets disrupted(i mean theres still a pausebutton, but you get my drift.)

Also, it would be cool if you could add a more gamefied version where you have a healthbar and enemy drones inflict damage if you answer wrong or run out of time, different dronetype enemies with different additional difficulty effects(less time, shown item dissapears after few seconds, pixeled fonts,no furigana, uncommon kanji usage, etc.)

Nonetheless its still a great addition to bunpro.
