Prep for JLPN1: 6 months on Bunpro?

Not that I was going anywhere anyway, living that Kanto corona life

And Japanese winters are so dry and the sun is so dazzling… so a little cloud is much welcomed. :cloud: :sunny: :socks::socks:

For the most part I did not find posting here productive. And I really wish people didnt sit dissecting my posts and passing so much unrelated judgement.

Wani Kani is clear about their program. The fastest anyone has completed all 60 Levels is a little over a year. I figured two years would be a reasonable pace, but its not. I told them how I complete each Level in 8 days and they said I was on the high end of the spectrum because the fastest is 7 days and the average is something like 12 days. I also felt studying sentence structure is useless without a firm grasp of hiragana, katakana, Kanji and at least N3 vocabulary. That is why I started with Wanikani for a year before coming here.

I don’t have time to sift through all these unnecessary opinions. Language studies is only one of my academic pursuits. I don’t want to be notified anymore and I’m tired of hearing how I bruised someone’s ego by simply being honest about who I am, what are my goals and what I have accomplished thus far. There’s way too much miscommunication and drama.

I just want to know if doing a Lesson a day…5 Lessons a week is a reasonble pace and how far along I would get if I did this. No one seems to have any answers. Just whining.

@Asher, I think its cool that you learned Swedish and I am happy you shared, but I am not trying to compete with you or anyone. If I did I’d enter the Memory Championships with Yanjaa.

@MacFinch You felt an overwhelming need to come to my defense in a rather lengthy presentation. Its really kind, but I rather you spent it studying.

Nah my answer was sincere. Just do a simple multiplication and look at how many lessons there are on BunPro, that’ll tell you how far you might get if you were to keep up such a pace

No worries, it took 5 min. And i think I will a benefit from it. There is a chance that in future people will be more likely to discuss the matter not the people, which would make my life easier and more pleasant. But that pretty high call for internet forum so I am not that much optimistic.

And to be honest I was really defending the idea of having discussion. It is easier to defend it on your case than wait somebody will start attacking me ad personam.

It may be too much. I did something like that (16 lesson in 21 days, about 10 grammar per day) but bunpro is starting to take more time than I want it to take. So I would not recommend being to attach to that pace. But to be honest I do it more like as side activity. So it should be possible to out pace me without a problem.

trigger warning

I am pretty sure I could triple the pace if I would want to focus only on BunPro. But since it is last on the priorities I will rather keep slowing down.

Generally I would not recommend putting too much time with “busy work”. Reading more important.

Just looking through this thread a bit and it strikes me how overall nice everyone here is — thanks.

I don’t get the reference. Can you elaborate, please? :hugs:

@jprspereira doesn’t have a level indicator on his name because he studied Japanese grammar at the foot of Mt Fuji, listening to the soft whispers of baachan returning home from the conbini with squid snacks. He’s more Japanese than overpriced anime グッズ

First, on a pratical point of view you can’t do a Lesson a day on Bunpro (provided what you call a “Lesson” is a grammar point), since the minimum batch size to be quizzed is 2 in the settings. Maybe you could ask this to be changed. Edit : if by Lesson you mean the 10*5 Lessons in the Bunpro Grammar order path (https://bunpro.jp/lessons), then you will need 10 weeks to see them all at 5 Lessons a week. No need to ask advices on a forum to compute this.

Second, only you can know if this is a reasonable pace for you, so waiting a definitive answer from other is a waste of time. So I suggest you to just take the free month to try and set the right pace for you. Then you can judge by yourself whether Bunpro is made for you and, if it is, decide how you intend to use the site.

By the way (might be interesting for some people who don’t know it yet), you don’t need to learn new grammar by clicking on study in the bar on the top of the website. You can also select individual grammar points in the lessons overview, look at them and add them to your review queue - that way it is possible to only learn one item or learn stuff in a different order

This site is full of surprises. Thanks!

And judging by sudden jump in level I would assume when she says “lesson” she mean “lesson”. xD

Depends on what you consider to be a lesson. If you leave the default on and 5 per lesson, than one or two a day for N5 is doable. I prefer to think in grammar points. If you have a path, I recommend a chapter or so a day for the early stuff then slow down if you get overwhelmed.
