I would also like to ask about some books, that are not novels but something more technical and subtle for the jlpt N1.
I downloaded 僕たちに、もうモノは必要ない propose by @Clerk1856 and read a few first pages of it. I immediately loved it from the premise, it felt like watching essay on the YouTube, and also, probably because as it’s about minimalism it has a really low percentage of words I don’t know, for now it was one per page, which makes it easy to get the full meaning of those words as they are there because they have to be there to transmit the meaning author wants to transmit, maybe it will get more intense letter but probably for a clear reason.
Actually, initially, before this post my idea was to find 30 books, that are not that difficult, and try to read them in 30 days, to kind of try really hard again after I didn’t do that for a year now.
This type of literature sounds really interesting to me, I really like to listen to ideas, as well as it could serve well for jlpt, if I imagine correctly what that is from your description. The thing is, I’ve never read something like that, so I don’t really know what form that is, could you recommend something particular?

Sure, sorry if i wasn’t so clear on my meaning. A short story anthology is just a collection of short stories all in one convenient book! They could be organized together because they are by the same author, all the same genre or deal with the same subject matter, or any other reason really. These short stories are also called ショートショート in Japanese if you want a term to use to search for them.
One example that immediately comes to my mind is エヌ氏の遊園地 which is a collection of very short science fiction stories.
There are also the “Read Real Japanese” series. There are at least two books I know of. One is a collection of short stories, one is a collection of essays. They offer the original text with side-by-side translation and audio CD.
Anyway the reason I recommend looking into them is because unlike a really long novel, the stories can be much more digestible. Good reading practice.
