A question about the study question 「部屋が寒いと____。」

Hello!

Is と here serving as a quotation marking particle?

The answer is 部屋が寒いと感じる, which has a similar feel to say 部屋が寒いと思う。It’s not specifically listed in https://bunpro.jp/grammar_points/と, but that seems like the right idea?

I think the room is cold

the role of the と is the same in both cases
you can use と quotations with other verbs that aren’t listed in the example. Lately I’ve come across a sentence with [something]と信じる “I believe [something]”

A bit of a strange comparison perhaps, but Swedish has the words tycker, tänker, and tror, which all mean to ‘to think’. One is for opinions and feelings, one is for thoughts, and one is for beliefs.

Japanese is actually very similar in this regard in that many different words can be used for conveying thoughts even when they are far closer to feelings or experiences. Even 見る can be used with と when you’re referring more to the experience of seeing/thoughts related to it, rather than just the physical action.
