Hi everyone,
Can you help me understand this sentence? This came up in my reviews for the vocab item 手段.
あの団体は目的のためなら手段を選ぶ事はありません。
That organization does not hesitate to choose any means necessary to achieve its goals.
I don’t get where the “any means necessary” comes from. If I hadn’t known the English translation, I would have read this as:
あの団体は That organisation
目的のためなら for the sake of its goals
手段を選ぶ事はありません。does not choose a method.
Of course, I realise that makes for a weird sentence. But where does the “any means necessary” come from? Is 手段を選ぶ事はない a set expression?
