A question about the study question 「

Hi everyone,

Can you help me understand this sentence? This came up in my reviews for the vocab item

That organization does not hesitate to choose any means necessary to achieve its goals.

I don’t get where the “any means necessary” comes from. If I hadn’t known the English translation, I would have read this as:

あの団体は That organisation

目的のためなら for the sake of its goals

does not choose a method.

Of course, I realise that makes for a weird sentence. But where does the “any means necessary” come from? Is 手段を選ぶ事はない a set expression?

Hi!

Maybe this will help you.

On a side note...

…this happens a bit with the vocabulary example sentences, where set expressions using the word taught sneakily slip in. In those instances, both good ol’ Jisho and the Add Note tool come in handy.

Ahh, so it is a set expression. Hah. Thank you very much for the help and info! Happy to know set expressions can be looked up that way.

In fact, now that I’m taking a look, I see that Bunpro has this expression as well. I could have just looked it up here!
