As I understand that sometimes people use お返事 and sometimes they use ご返事, I’m curious about whether this vocab should allow both versions, or whether the “you’re close but not quite right” hints could distinguish between the two.
For example, I was doing cloze review with the sentence “おばあちゃんからの手紙にお返事をしました。”
When I enter へんじ, I’m prompted to use the more polite version. When I enter ごへんじ, it’s marked as wrong.
I understand from researching elsewhere that the ご〜 version seems to carry a more formal vibe than the お〜 version, so maybe it’s not the best fit for a letter from おばあちゃん, but it would be nice if this could be explained somewhere in the vocab info.
Does that make sense, or am I missing something?
Cheers and thanks for all the good work.
