A question about 「やっといて」

部長、部下に:「で使うかどうか)よく分からないけど____やっといて。」

Can anyone explain the やっといて bit of this example sentence (from the 一応(1) grammar point)?

Jisho is recognising it as やっと and いて, which I guess it could be - sort of a “please finally be” - but I’m not convinced yet.

Thanks!

P.S. If an admin/mod sees this, I couldn’t actually post this with the title the app inserted for me automatically, so that needs some work!

My guess: it’s the casual form of ~ておく conjugated into the て form.

やる (to do) → やっておく (to do in advance) → やっとく (to do in advance, more casual) → やっといて (do in advance, て command form).
