What do you mean by they’re “express”?
Congrats again on your accidental speedrun. ^^ I think as long as you not only grind through one rescource and call it a day, you’ll be fine. You said writing is your strongest skill—have you studied handwriting as well?
Also, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but since I have wanted to pick up Korean for some years now, do you have learning materials you can recommend? It just seems like Korean does not nearly have as many (and as good) resources as Japanese (or I am just not able to find them whatsoever)
You don’t have to guru radicals to unlock kanji to level up. You you can level up in half the time if you’re motivated.
Guru Radicals → Guru Kanji → Level up ~7days
Guru Kanji only → Level up ~3.5 days
Edit(Don’t want to derail the thread): No you haven’t learned all the radicals by 45, but they’re no longer required to level up. So you can level up much faster.
Oh so you’ll have learned all the radicals by level 45?
I think the absolute fastest time you can get through a level is something like 6, 7 days? For the “express” levels you can do that in about 3! So if you’re guru’ing up all your kanji as fast as they’re available to you, you can breeze through them!
Thank you! The only ‘studying’ of handwriting I’ve done is just handwriting essays in class so it’s a bit of a mess, but I’d love to learn calligraphy^^
And you’re totally right, Korean doesn’t have as many consolidated learning platforms and all the resources are spread out. If you want to PM me I can give you an extensive list, but just off the top of my head I’d recommend this website for a good homebase for grammar and vocab, Memrise for an SRS platform that does Korean as well as pretty much any other language, any Tuttle publishing books for Korean language, Duolingo has gotten better but the Korean it teaches is pretty stilted at times but great for basics, and Lingodeer!
(Also don’t want to derail the thread but I can’t ignore someone asking a question, so this will be my only comment on this!)
Essentially, WaniKani requires you to Guru a certain percentage of each level’s kanji to reach the next level. Pre-45, you have to Guru your Radicals first to unlock enough Kanji to be able reach that level-up threshold. Post-45, you still learn radicals, but you have enough Kanji unlocked from the start to level-up with just your initial batch of Kanji, and the second batch that are unlocked from Radicals don’t affect your level up time.
