Am I doing reviews wrong?

Hello,

I’ve been using Bunpro for a month and I don’t know if I’m doing my reviews wrong.

When I make a mistake I always go to the Info button to know which was the right word, so I come back to the review, correct it and then I get a correct answer. This way I always get a 100% right at the end, even when I failed some of them.

Should I keep my incorrect answer even after clicking the Info button so I record a mistake? Or should I keep correcting the answer and get a ok?

Up to you, but personally if you didn’t get it right, I recommend sticking with that and recording it as a wrong answer.
That way, the “SRS” system will be able to help you learn and practice the things you’re getting wrong.

Hi, welcome to the community!

The whole point of the SRS is so you review more often the items you’ve trouble with and less often the ones that are easy for you. For the system to work properly it should record your mistake to give you another review soon to make you work on it. If you pretend you did correct but didn’t remember anything, you’ll get the next review in like a month and probably still won’t remember it.

So to take the most out of the SRS you should leave the mistakes as they are (unless you knew the answer and just made a typo) – the system will handle it for you.

If you want to, in the settings you can also adjust how much the item level decreases after a mistake.

@bunnypro @LemonPebble that what i was fearing, that correcting would be making the SRS system to not work.

I think I should be resetting all the progress? Since it’s just a month, it’s not like a very big deal.

Thanks for the answer!

You will get the opportunity to correct all of your mistakes after you complete all of the other reviews. After you check the info just hit enter again to record the answer as incorrect. Then after you cycle through the remaining reviews you will get an opportunity to redo all of your mistakes.

I think you’re right that since it’s just a month it won’t matter very much.
Anything you can’t recall well, if you mark it as wrong from now on, will slip back down to being reviewed more frequently until you’re getting it right often enough that the reviews will get spaced out again.
So if you change the way of approaching getting reviews right/wrong from now on, there’s probably no need to go through the process of resetting your progress, as that will happen naturally over time anyway

The only times I use the “undo”-button is if I write the correct answer but a spelling mistake renders it incorrect. This is assuming that the spelling mistake is simply from a slip of my fingers, if it’s an incorrect spelling I thought was the correct one I will keep it as incorrect.

If you’re circumventing the SRS you’re just cheating yourself into thinking you are making progress, when you aren’t.

@drunkgome I just saw it once I started doing it right. Great to know!

@bunnypro I already reset and ran through most of the vocab and grammar, since the start is quite easy, but now I’m doing it right.

@FubuMiOkaKoro Yes, I was cheating (without knowing it), so I guess a fresh start is a good move now.

Yeah, I didn’t mean cheating as in anything malicious, or to be accusatory. Maybe I should have written “unintentionally tricking yourself (i.e. getting a false sense of progress)”. That’s more the meaning I was intending.

But I don’t think you need to manually reset anything, the SRS will just take care of it naturally for you from here on.
