Am I messing this up?

So I recently finished the Kaishi 1.5k deck on Anki and decided to move to Bunpro to just have everything together in one place (plus it’s way easier to remove words I already know by marking them as mastered rather than starting a new Anki deck), but with Bunpro comes the option to be given the word in English and then translate to Japanese. Before I would see the word in Japanese and translate to English. I’m just slightly worried that if I’m just seeing it in English will I end up thinking in English and end up just translating rather than having the language “flow”. Plus if anyone knows if there’s any difference in memorization capabilities of the two different options (one word in Japanese translate to English and the one I mentioned previously) that would be really helpful thanks! :))

Change it to reading mode in settings and it will be like anki, yes or no whether you know it or not after reading the Japanese.

If you want to read, you should use reading mode so you actually test your ability to read and understand it in written form with kanji.

You can also use ctrl-2 (at least for me, that’s @) to immediately suspend a card in anki if you want to suspend cards you already know.

This extension can also find and delete anki duplicates, keeping either the newest or oldest card if you want to use another premade deck, but you are probably at the point where you’d get more out of mining your own words that better fit what you use to immerse.

I used the extension myself to get rid of all my mined duplicates from wk/bp to continue in anki. You won’t have to do this, but there’s an addon to set a new added date https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1124670306 that I used to make sure all my wk+bp words were set to older than my mined cards.
