Any (free to use) website for reading manga for immersion?

Ideally with the ability to just select text for sentence mining into Anki.

GitHub - kha-white/mokuro: Read Japanese manga inside browser with selectable text.

https://reader.mokuro.app/

Here’s the functionality, I generate files with Mokuro and throw it into the reader.

I buy some things, but the thing is with manga you are pretty much always locked into DMR so you’re gonna have to source “raw” files through illegitimate means. If you want to support the author you can always buy a legitimate copy after reading. In the future you will not really rely on Mokuro much anymore and the DMR becomes a lot less annoying (I still use it for convenience for a lot of large volumes, but pixiv free manga I just read directly on pixiv).

Where on the internet can I purchase manga? I would prefer to have physical copies, because I prefer to read books over reading on the internet when it comes to my reading.

bilingualmanga.org is fantastic. If you look up “(your desired manga name) bilingualmanga.org”, then you can find lots of manga and switch between English and Japanese with the click of a button. It’s got built in OCR, so if you click any text in the manga, it will display selectable text over corresponding text in the manga.

Maybe not the best for your Anki sentence mining use case because the OCR isn’t always perfect, but it’s a brilliant resource for learning Japanese through reading manga.

I really enjoy Kinokuniya for purchasing physical manga/novels (English and Japanese). Not sure if you are in the U.S., but if you are, the shipping isn’t too bad either. I’m not sure how it is for other countries, though.

I really like https://mangareader.to because it has eng/japanese versions of the same manga, so you can easily switch between to see the translations and so on, it helped me so much
