On my smartphone, Bunpro frequently pauses for 5-30 secs every time it is loads any new data (which seems to be extremely common), and often has freezing ‘hiccups’ even once a page has loaded. Using Wanikani via browser or Anki via app doesn’t have the same issues; both are extremely smooth experiences.
Are there any particularly resource-hungry Bunpro options I could turn off in settings? Have to be in an exceedingly patient mood to use the smartphone version as is…
Any chance this is the app? I’ve only ever used the website on browser (Safari) with no lag issues.
It is, yeah. I’ll try switching to using the website via browser and see if that’s better; that’s a good idea
Update: much better, essentially no slowdown! Now I’m frustrated that I spent so much time with the app

Fwiw, I use the Android app a ton and I’ve never had any issues. I really like having an app, cause having it on my home screen reminds me to do my reviews more often. I stopped using WaniKani cause I would always forget to do my reviews, and then they’d stack up and take forever for me to finish.
But there are a bunch of apps for WaniKani. Granted, they aren’t official, but that makes them even better as they can provide options out of the box for which you have to install userscripts on the website.
