Audio available for download

Thanks for making these files available. I’ll add myself to the list of people here citing them as a helpful study tool.

To anybody for whom this matters: I’m relatively sure at least some of these audio files are TTS, and also relatively sure that at least some of the sentences are objectively unnatural, after running some suspicious sounding ones by a native speaker friend.

I don’t have the skills or knowledge to give my own take on either point, but I wish I had had both of these things on my radar before starting to work with these files and wanted to share the above information with anybody who might find it useful.

Happy studying everybody!

Hi there, welcome to the forums! I am glad that the files are useful to you! All of the sentences on the site have been written by native speakers, so are natural in the sense that they are grammatically correct.

Some of them may sound a little bit unnatural to a native speaker though in the sense that they use grammar that a native speaker would not usually use in daily conversation, and we only use on the site in order to specifically teach a grammar point which may have a more ‘natural’ variation in daily speech.

In saying that, we quite often rewrite sentences on the site if we feel that they could be more natural, and the files that you downloaded are from a very long time ago, so it is possible that there are a few among them that have since been replaced on the website! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to reach out at any time! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Edit - Also, none of our grammar audio is TTS . If there are any sentences that you are worried about the naturalness of, you can always swing a message to @Chihiro or @Fuga, some of our native speakers who will be able to help you out with any questions too!
