I think if you read it without buying it you actually get time off your sentence since you are preventing yourself from the fate of death by book avalanche, but you still have to read the ones you own

Japanese books always have such fantastic covers… I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover but damn they’re so beautiful… I want to buy them all…

It might help you keep up with some reading if you try picking a very easy book to keep up with. I think that’s part of why I enjoy the 恐怖コレクター series so much. It’s my “bag of chips” series. I can just keep eating them up, even when I don’t feel like reading. God help me the next time they do a sale. I’ve been buying them at full price, but if they do a new years sale I’ll literally buy all of them. 
Hmmm sounds familiar. 
I really hate that they’re all dust covers though. I don’t really get japan doing that. Seems like a waste of material to me. Just put the pretty cover on the book. Not a thing I have to take off every time so it doesn’t get crumpled.

Today is my last day of work before winter break starts, which is 2 weeks long. I’m very excited, because during this break I won’t be working on a million Christmas projects and will, hopefully, have more time to read. I’ll probably carve out time early in the mornings before my husband and cats wake up and start annoying me.
Been working a little more on my reading google sheet. (it’s not private, it lies)
On my backlog sheet I’ve been removing some series that are just things I got for free on Bookwalker, but don’t don’t think I’ll ever read. I also need to find a way to subtract volumes I’ve already read from the final count for each category. I have 11 volumes of 7Seeds listed, but I’ve already read the first 2. Seems like I need another column.
Ignore the 2026 tab. I’m not that ahead or I wouldn’t be here.

My once/twice yearly manga haul just hit and has effectively undone most of my work for the year if I purely go by physical volumes unread but I’m excited to dig in. It’s mostly short series, I think I’ll start with Wizard’s Soul first, which is a four volume manga about not-Magic the not-Gathering. I read some in English a while back but the good TL group dropped it midway through so it’s time to learn more card game words.

Good news is that my unread Japanese book pile didn’t increase for Christmas! The bad news is that I got 4 new English books for Christmas!
But Bookwalker has several manga I want for real cheap right now…

I’ll read my treasure hoard of books from jail. I’m fine with that. Sorry to be a total failure everyone.
Edit: For the record I’m not getting the entire rest of the series. So far I’ve only bought 5…and have thought about getting the next 5 after that. I haven’t done it though…yet.

Quick check in from Tokyo - I am in jail for book buying (an aoex volume, the next 傷モノの花嫁 volume, and like 4 volumes of the print version of ORV’s webcomic), BUT.
I did do a tiny bit of reading on the shinkansen over (it was some of the new 傷モノ volume) so I’m not a total loss?

I think I’m going to instate a rule for myself 2026 that’s simply “if you buy it you read it”. So unless I’m planning to read it within the year next year I shouldn’t buy it. I’m happy to be stocked on 恐怖コレクター now, but there will be no more purchasing for me beyond this point.
