Good luck with your Japanese reading journey! It will take some time and practice with beginner learner content before you feel comfortable tackling native books, but you will get there! If you’re not aware of it yet, Learn Natively is a good source for finding things to read. They have a difficulty rating system which gives a rough estimate how difficult a particular manga or book is. A good source of inspiration for when you want to start with native stuff, but not too sure where to start.

At long last! I’ve been meaning to change it for a while now since I’ve had the same one since I started posting here (that was 2022!), and have been using the same one for everywhere (BP, Wanikani, Natively, renshuu).

Oh and seconding learnnatively! I think a lot of us who are in here pretty often already know it, but if anyone’s lurking, the rating system is neat! It’s not fullproof, but it gives you a sense of how different stuff compares.

I’m jumping in on this too. I started reading again for the first time in ages. I have read four manga in four days. I’m enjoying getting back into it but now I’m scared that I won’t have enough time since I got back from my holiday.
That being said… I bought ten books during my holiday. I don’t know how many I have unread at home but it’s not looking good for me haha.
Easily over 60 unread (not ideal, I know). I was bad but I guess it’ll be okay as long as I keep reading at the rate that I was. Takes me maybe two hours to read a manga? Maybe less, I haven’t timed myself.
Being an adult is too time consuming.
Anyway, that’s my monologue. Let’s keep reading.

Yes the cover is very eyecatching!
It’s from the second story called “赤鬼からもらった力”.
This books countains 3 old stories rewriten and illustrated for beginners.
Eventhough it says you can learn Japanese with it (there is an introduction to grammar and kana), I would not recommand it as it took me 10 minutes per pages with a vocab list as I didn’t want to read the translation directly 
So it will be extremly daunting for total beginners.

Yes, I already use learn natively.
I am level 10 or 11 from tadoku books I manage to read that are reference there.
So sadly still far from being able to read Yotsuba 
I love tales of Symphonia finished it 3 or 4 times on my gamecube when I was a kid.

So I’ve just not even talked about how absolutely terrible I’ve been with obtaining more books. I just distract you all by talking about what I’ve been finishing instead. Which btw I finished the first volume of Aria the Masterpiece yesterday!
