unfortunately foreigners are held to different standards tho lol (and in general full time teachers work a lot harder than us so napping is more forgiven)

Yeah, those are both good things to keep in mind too. I know I’m careful to make sure I’m on time (usually actually a bit early) in the morning, that I give everyone a heads up if I need to take off when there’s classes (and that I minimize those events as much as possible), that class prep is handled before I do other things, etc. I want to make sure I’m doing a good job/leaving a good impression overall.
The reading is an outlier, and it at least seems like my coworkers get that it’s part of my studies, outer appearances aside. And it’s better than some things I’ve heard of ALTs doing at work, but then again sometimes that’s a pretty low bar 
Anyway! Where & when we do the reading aside, hope everyone’s reading for the day is going well so far!

Yeah, Dragon Quest Monsters: withered world iirc 
there’s a switch demo for it but the previous one, DQM the Dark Prince and the DS ones were poorer quality than the original gameboy colour versions (think there were 3 or 4 but we only received the one I think and it was competing with Pokémon at the time) I feel so waiting to see what kind of game it turns out to be before I decide to buy it.

I’m not actually familiar with the premise of the game to begin with - I played DQ Builders 2 and found that a lot of fun, though. What’s the idea for the Monsters games?

Got about 1/3 through 地縛少年花子くん volume 3! Only took like a half an hour ish, I think these are just faster reads than some of my other manga bc they’re not quite as dialogue/text heavy.

The original game plot
the MC was kidnapped and transported into the monster world then had to befriend monsters to fight his way up the ranks of a tournament where each level had three rounds and whenever you passed a level you got access to more gates/ worlds to collect better and higher levelled monsters. iirc, the whole point was you were ultimately there to defeat the big bad who was the highest level final boss which would restore the world to rights.
The most recent one DQM: the dark prince,
the MC is a half monster who is bullied in the human world and lands up in the monster world after going after his father. Although the MC has magic, it’s locked from the get go so he captures monsters to fight bigger battles to ultimately kill iff the bug bad (aka his dad).
It was sort of like Pokémon but more feral 
original game ending and manga beginning
I think at the end of the original game you see the MC go home and then he’s kidnapped again which starts the story for the manga I’m reading as that MC is there to find the MC from the original game.

Actually I would also love to know the code for spoiler blurring, if anyone happens to know it, because I finished 地縛 volume 3 and I have a few thoughts

Continued reading the above book and finished the second story: きつね.
(Kid believes he is cursed after buying new Geta, wearing them at night and thinking he is being turned into a kitsune).
This book has several short stories by the same author who seems to really like writing about Kitsune or other short stories with morals. Reminds me a little of Aesops fables only not as abstract. Full furigana. Most of the grammar so far is approachable, though there is the odd unusual vocabulary here and there.
