Ahh, this is interesting I haven’t seen a lot of apps that have integration with Anki decks. I will suss this out thanks.

The extra working room of using an iPad would be nice, even compared to just reading an ebook version of a book on an iPad directly as I find iPad OS’s context menu for looking up Japanese words clunky at best.

I think looking up words while reading might be the only useful use-case for a google glass / vision pro style device… :laughing: Might invest in a second hand windows laptop purely for yomitan support, I yomitan has spoiled me when reading things on my desktop.

Do you recall/know if Kanji study lets you create custom templates when you add to a deck, or is it just a preset card type?

I…think it’s a preset? It doesn’t ask me for any info/settings or anything when I add them. But I get pretty confused by anki’s setting stuff :sweat:

Maybe if not a specific book reading club, as I am too picky about what I like to read…
But definitely a separate thread on book recommendations (based on exact parameters, like recommended level, very short summary, overall impression, trigger warnings, etc) and maybe a book reading accountability thread?

Last week was quite a slump and I had multiple days in a row where I read only half a volume. I’m back on track this week but same thing almost happened today where I started later than planned and thought “welp now I don’t have enough time so maybe I skip it today” but powered through anyways and finished with plenty of time to spare. Sometimes the mental battle is the hardest especially if you have a break in the habit (kinda like last week). I want to practice finding the will to continue no matter the circumstances especially when it’s something so trivial at the end of the day :pray:

The library has a shelf of books that need a new home… they’re free … and I got more room on my bookshelf cause I lent out Somali… so it’s OK then °人° ;

Not much reading for me (managed a bit of re-reading of a short story I have been half way through for the last few weeks :sweat_smile:), been helping my dad clear some stuff and working on getting back to a work routine since trying to go back to work after bereavement

I might get some done on Sunday after I start back with lessons and my language exchange though if I’m lucky :crossed_fingers::four_leaf_clover:
Spending time with Japanese is one of my go to ways to de-stress even when it feels stressful :sweat_smile:

Technically my readathon reading was part of silver week, but if we’re not counting that then no big reading, unfortunately. Only crimes.

The current mangas I own are Haikyuu, Frieren, Dan Dan Dan, and Detective Conan.
I would love to read these but feel they are hard for their own reasons.

Anyone recommend a book/manga that are a tad easier or within these genres. I also dont mind trying one of them if a specific one is easier than the others.

So let me know yalls thoughts.
