The title explains most of the question, but I reread chapters 3-5 and did not see だ mentioned anywhere. Is there a reason it’s added to this deck? Is the Genki 1 3rd edition Grammar deck not a 1:1 with the book?

Genki uses polite form until chapter 8 at which point it introduces short form. Generally speaking, です is the polite form of だ. I can’t attest to the order of the bunpro deck being 1:1 with genki but I know it’s close. Genki doesn’t explicitly teach だ as it’s own grammar point which is why I think the bunpro team put it where they did.
