Bunpro Linguistic Terms

Hello, is there a set (Anki, Bunpro, or otherwise) that goes over the linguistic terms used on Bunpro or generally when talking about Japanese? Terms like “agglutinative” I have a general understanding, but when it gets in the weeds a bit, I think I would need a more solid grasp on these terms.

I know it isn’t strictly needed to understand these terms, but the little knowledge I have in linguistic terminology has already given me plenty of lightbulbs.

Thank you, Bunpro team, for all you do!

P.S. This is my first post. My apologies if it’s in the wrong place. I couldn’t decide whether this belonged to “Bunpro” or “Japanese” since it’s about both! :bowing_man:

This site seem to have decent, brief descriptions for a lot of terms.

And since you brought up linguistics I want to mention a resource that is definitely overkill for the vast majority of Japanese learners, but has a lot of great information in it.

For a decade De Gruyter Mouton has been working on a 12 volume-series for Japanese linguistics, with the final volume having been released in the beginning of this year. The pdfs for these are incredibly easy to find online, but I’m obviously not going to directly link to them here. And I’m only recommending getting the books this way because they are overpriced as hell (like, insanely expensive), otherwise it’s always best to support the authors by buying the books.
The books are really dense, ~600-1100 pages per volume, but if you want to get more into the linguistic side of Japanese it’s a great resource.

Thank you so much for your reply! That first resource you gave me is amazing. It’s 90% of the way to what I was looking for. As for the second, I will check it out for sure! I’m thinking I might check it out after the existential threat of reaching N4 by Oct. is over first, though (I’m doing an exchange in Kyoto from this Oct. until next Aug.). Lol.
