Can someone teach me the way to type out common sound lengtheners?

I keep missing certain questions that have silent syllables because I’m not sure how to type them out through a QWERTY keyboard. Any help or tips would be appreciated.

I’m not sure what you mean by “silent syllables” since every character that’s written gets pronounced.
If you’re talking about elongated vowels like the ー in ケーキ (cake), you can replace it with a hyphen -, so “ke-ki.”
For a held consonant, written with small tsu (っ、ッ), you can just type the lengthened consonant twice, so がっこう (school) would be typed as “gakkou”

To OP, this will almost ALWAYS work, but I’ve come across very rare instances where it didn’t work. In that case to get the small tsu, you can type “xtu” to get it.

Yes, I wasn’t 100% sure what to refer to them as but this definitely helps. I kept getting the answers wrong and the Key on the page wasn’t much help.

Thank you! I was getting frustrated with having some review questions not accepting my answers because I was unsure on how to type them. Thank you so much.
