Catching up after a long absence

Hey all, I’ve been gone from Bunpro for a long time now (like several years). I really want to make Bunpro a part of my regular studying again, but I am pretty overwhelmed with the number of reviews I have to do (about 300) when there’s a lot of grammar I just plain don’t remember. Jumping back into reviews is agony as I get nearly every question wrong.

I had gotten decently far while I was still active (middle of N3 level), so if it’s at all feasible I’d like to avoid a complete reset. I worry that it might be the only realistic option, though.

Was wondering if folks here had any advice for catching up after being gone for a very long?

I think the best idea would be to reread these grammar points and then cram them a few times?

You don’t have to do a full reset. You can reset just N3 deck for example. The rest depends on how much you remember from the earlier decks. You can reset everything, go through the grammar points one by one, and manually adjust their SRS level.

You can do the reviews by N level. So what I would do if I were you is quickly read over every grammar point in their shortest form. Expand for more details of necessary but otherwise just go down the list without reading the inner details. And then do just the reviews for that N level. You can probably do all the N5 reviews in 1 shot. The other ones you can break up into several sessions where you do like 20 at a time multiple times per day.

You can also use the cram feature to review a few lessons at a time. Don’t touch the reviews at all, only do crams which don’t count towards your review pile. That way you can isolate your mistakes to certain lessons and limit the range of answers you have to consider. Once you complete the cram for an entire N level, do the reviews for that N level.

Thanks folks, I didn’t know that I can do reviews by N level. I think that’ll be pretty helpful!

I had 600+ reviews when I came back and honestly, I just took it day by day, ten at a time. Some days more than others.
