Changing exact time-based SRS to day-based

In Bunpro, if I do reviews at 8am one day and then come back tomorrow and try to do them at 7 am, then I will have no reviews that are spaced apart at least 24 hours. This means that I will have to wait an extra day to review these cards.

For Anki, every day resets, so it doesn’t matter what time of the day I review the cards. Over time, this leads to about less reviews of frequently missed cards in Bunpro.

I much rather prefer the Anki system, but curious as to what other people think. I know some people are able to come back during the day and do reviews, but I only have time in the morning.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re describing. How does Anki’s way result in fewer reviews?

Whoops, was unclear in the phrasing. Bunpro has less reviews, assuming you are reviewing daily.

Thank you for the suggestion.

With Anki, their minimum interval is one day (for progression). On Bunpro we have a four and eight hour intervals for progression on normal reviews, as well as similarly small intervals on missed reviews and during ghost reviews. We set it up that way to optimize early exposure and there isn’t a clear way to make the reviews reset every day at a certain time when using less than 24 hour intervals. Maybe someone has an idea about how to do this?

As for number of reviews, do you mean per session or total? The number of reviews in either case simply comes down to the SRS pattern being used and what the cap on it is.

Personally, I only review once a day so 4 and 8 hour intervals are not really useful to me. It would be nice if there would be an option to change the minimal interval to daily vs exact and for the daily option, it would work like Anki where it reset every day at a certain time.

I understand if there’s not enough users to justify this option though.

For reviews, I’m assuming no caps. For sake of argument, let’s assume I have 10 words I review one day and they all get a 24 hour interval. If I come back in 23 hours, then I will have 0 words to review the next day and those 10 words would appear the day after. If I were using Anki, I would have those 10 words to review in 23 hours. Over time, this leads to less reviews on average, although I won’t argue that this is a huge deal.
