Hello, the awesome community of Bunpro!
I’m colo and after reading multiple forums and logs I think I should make mine now.

About Me:
I really started enjoy Japanese anime around October last year and has been kinda watching it but not addicted to it.
After that I really got into Nogizaka46 but there’s a problem!
I know nothing about Japanese. Therefore, it’s really frustrating to keep translating all the time.
And after that, I unknowingly join a Japanese gaming community!
After some considerations I decided to start learning Japanese as a third language (English is my second) !

My ULTIMATE goal is: to be able to read and spit out sentences with no difficulty. (and some listening, also a bit of writing :slight_smile: )

In May, I started by purchasing a course on UDEMY. That helped me learn Hiragana and Katakana and some numbers and time telling but ultimately gave up after overloads of content.

Around in September, I decided to come back and start again. Here’s are my strategies:

Grammar:
Bunpro (Daily)
Currently at N4 - 72/177

Vocabulary:
Anki 2k6k Deck (Daily)
Currently at 450/6000

Kanji:
Kanji! app on iPad (Daily, 2 Lessons a day - around 8 Kanjis)
Currently at N4 Lesson 29 / 95

Reading:
Satori Reader - rarely
NHK Easy New App - rarely
My Japanese community -

I currently don’t have any Japanese books as of now.

Listening:
Nogizaka Koujichuu (Weekly ish)
More Nogi related stuff

Previous Tools:
Renshuu - Although I really like the games its lessons are falling way behind Bunpro’s
Wanikani - One thing I love about Kanji is writing, it’s like a flex if you can write. Wanikani just doesn’t have that and 9$ a month seems really えぐい to me

Oh yeah and I average around 6k-7k minutes on Japanese music a month :smiley: :smiley: :smiley: :smiley: :innocent: :heart_eyes:

Week 1 - (3/11/24 - 9/11/24)

Bunpro (69 days streak):

  • Grammar : 72 → 93 / 177 (N4) | +21
  • Vocab : 641 → 700 / 1100 (N5) | +70

Kanji!:

  • Lesson 29 → 43 / 95 (N4) | +14
    (Approximately 56 new words/kanji)

Anki (Vocab):

  • 450 → 520 / 5,999 | +70

Diary ?!?:

  • Started on Wednesday (6/11/24)
  • 2d / 7d

Goals for this week:

  • Do at least 1 diary every day. (7)
  • Read at least 1 Japanese article every day. (7)
  • Explore more Japanese content on youtube.

学校はまた始めたよ。今週は忙しすぎた。毎晩、宿題とかグループの仕事があります。それから、学校のイベントがあります。でもも、日本語を勉強するはまだ楽しい。だから、週末は天国のようだ！ 頑張りますね。

  • Kanji! - 2 Lessons a day
  • Anki - 10 new vocabs a day
  • Diary - 1 diary a day
  • Book/Article - 1 article/book a day

Bunpro (76 days streak):

  • Grammar : 93→ 114 / 177 (N4) | +21
  • Vocab : 700 → 781 / 1100 (N5) | +81

Kanji!:

  • Lesson 43 → 57 / 95 (N4) | +14

Anki (Vocab):

  • 520 → 590 / 5,999 | +70

Last week’s goals

  • Do at least 1 diary every day. Completed
  • Read at least 1 Japanese article/books every day. Completed (https://tadoku.org/)
  • Explore more Japanese content on youtube. Completed (Found more channels such as Comprehensible Japanese and Onomappu)
