I stopped studying (and using bunpro) 5 months ago, now I want back but I’m kind of rusty. I also have 700 reviews piled up on bunpro, but I don’t think they will help me get back as those are newer words (and I also hate doing so many reviews. I was doing 130 per day before I got tired). So I basically have two questions: to getting rid of the piled-up reviews, is the only solution, actually doing them? And is there a way to review old words on bunpro.

If by old words you mean cards with a higher SRS level, it’s possible to sort the cards by descending SRS levels in the review screen (click on the gear, then ‘queue order’).
It might be easier to chip away at your pile of reviews this way too, because (assuming you get them right), the higher SRS cards stay out of your queue for longer.
