Confused about getting a Japanese-to-English vocabulary review

I currently mainly study N5 vocabulary.
But during a video game, I came across the “mayor” (shichou) word, which I wanted to manually add to my reviews. I found this item on bunpro while searching:

Today during my review, the word popped up, but not in the usual way where you get the English prompt and have to enter the Japanese word, but in the other way around: I got the Japanese word and had to type my answer in English.

Is this behavior configurable somewhere? In particular, I have these questions:

  1. Where can I see whether a word from bunpro will be shown to me in English or Japanese during the reviews?
  2. Can I switch this item to be shown in English and I have to answer in Japanese?
  3. Can I switch the “normal” N5 vocabulary reviews to show me the Japanese word, and I have to enter it in English?

Some of the words just aren’t programmed in to be English → Japanese yet. If it comes up asking for the English translation, it is safe to assume that’s currently the only available option. English → Japanese is the default.

As for the normal decks, yes you can use translate mode (Japanese → English). This is all available in your review settings under review type.
