Confused about provisional form encountered in manga

Yes, of course. Use whatever method works for you.

And you’re right, 10ten wouldn’t work for reading manga. I wish it did, though I’m glad to hear that it’ll still be useful to you.

Take care!

Thanks for the resources. I tried the Migii app the other day and it it definitely helps preparing. At the moment I’m leaning towards the Kanzen Master for Listening, vocabulary and maybe reading. Do you have any special experience with those? Something good or not so good? I’m not sure if all of them provide a big additional value.

You’re welcome!

Yes, I’ve used the Shinkanzen Master book series and, in my opinion, they are the best to prepare for the JLPT test. That’s literally what they are made for.

However, for initially learning grammar, other books and/or BunPro are better because the Shinkanzen Master series don’t explain grammar as much. It’s more for reference. That said, since the Sinkanzen books are basically a ton of JLPT formatted exercises, they are an excellent way for you to gauge your Japanese knowledge (at least in regards to passing the test). It’s probably because they are tougher than the actual test. Tons of trick questions in them.

My recommendation when using these books is to get used to the JLPT format at first and then start timing yourself. This is one advantage of using the Magi Sensei app, since it has a built in timer. The higher the JLPT level, the less time you’ll have to answer questions (especially in the reading portion), so that’s an extremely important aspect to take into account. In the listening portion, there’s no option but to go at their pace. Listen, answer, next question. So speed is essential!
