Disable/skip JP to EN cards?

I’ve imported my vocab progress from WaniKani (currently on level 14) and now I’m working my way through the backlog of reviews.

The cards where I have to insert the Japanese word into a sentence will be really valuable for me, as it’s providing a practice mode that WK does not: vocab in the context of sentences and grammar.

(WK does include some sample sentences for each vocab item, but does not quiz you on then like BunPro does)

However, every now and then a card pops up that is simply asking me for the English translation of a Japanese word, like the screenshot below. These don’t provide any value over what I already get from WK.

What’s the best way to avoid practicing these cards? Is there a setting to remove all JP to EN reviews?

If not, can I do it per card, as they appear in my queue? (Like the “suspend” option in Anki)

Having looked into the settings, it seems that this card is in the style of “Translate”, whereas my default is set to “Fill In”.

This setting was in place when I synced with WK so it’s odd that some cards would be in the “Translate” style.

I’ll try resetting all cards to “Fill In” and see if that helps.

Edited to add: it hasn’t helped, I’m still seeing translation cards.

I have the same problem. My guess is this is because there’s either no example sentence or the example sentence isn’t properly annotated for fill-in-the-blank style question.

What I did is that whenever this card appear in review, I just type whatever (correct or wrong doesn’t matter), then click “show info” (or F), under “Your Progress”, click the gear menu, then “Remove from reviews”. Unfortunately, this is a pretty manual process, especially if you automatically sync from wanikani… If you ended up finding a different solution, would love to know them.
