Does the WaniKani sync N3 vocab and above?

Hey folks,
TL;DR: I synced my WaniKani account, but it only affected the N4 and N5 vocab decks. N3, N2, and N1 all have no words marked as mastered, despite seeing multiple words in there that I have burned over on WaniKani.

I recently have been getting back into Bunpro to start studying regularly again. I’d used it before way back when, but I reset everything this time since I just wanted to start fresh.
So, I’ve been going through and marking everything I already know as mastered. This has been relatively tedious–especially with vocab–but it’s not been so bad since I synced my Bunpro account with my level 60 WaniKani account. Everything has been fine through the N4 deck, but the N3 deck (N2 and 1 as well) haven’t been affected at all.

I’ve tried resyncing my account, but nothing. At the end of the day, if push comes to shove, I can just go through one by one and mark them as mastered, but given I’ve burned the vast majority of terms on WaniKani I’m pretty sure this will result in 100s of words that could be automatically taken care of, but as of yet will have to be taken care of manually.

Any ideas on why this is/how I can get it to update?

Thanks in advance!

You don’t have Daily Sync turned on by the looks of it.
Did you do your initial manual-sync (the “Import Once Now” button) a long time in the past?
Try it again and see if this works for you! (PS. it will take a long time to process in the background, come back after like an hour to see if it has worked or not)

If it still doesn’t work, can you give me a word that isn’t syncing and I can do some testing?

I’ll try that!
The one thing I’m worried about is having a bunch of reviews that I’ve long since neglected and forgotten come cascading in , but I suppose it will be easier/faster to remove all those from reviews than it will be to find and set all the ones I have already burned in WK to mastered in Bunpro

Do you have your Sync Settings set to “Practice” or “Mastered”?

TBH I would maybe use Mastered and ignore them, unless you like the Cloze sentences

Edit: Seems to have settled with 1387 new reviews, and 2246 total terms adjusted. We’ll see if that made it worth it to do it!
Time to go through and readjust everything.

I just did Default; about a few months back in WK I went through and did all the enlightened reviews I had, which resulted in everything I have on WK right now either being burned or being far from it.

Because it’s been like a year+ since I’ve seriously been doing WK, I’m treating everything there burned as something I know for sure (even though there will inevitably be terms I’ve since forgotten), and everything that’s not burned as something I don’t know at all, since it’s been so long.

Default Sync was the only one that had the option of putting all the burned terms to mastered on bunpro, so I did that. I totally reset my progress on Bunpro a few weeks back, went through all the grammar, N4, and N5 vocab, marked every one I was already confident in as mastered, and left every one I wasn’t.
I’ve started studying that grammar and vocab, and now I’m approaching N3 vocab I’ve been looking for a way to help remove all the ones I’m already familiar with.

Going through every term has been very tedious, yes, but I know putting in the time now to eliminate the many terms I’m familiar with to only focus on the ones that need to be focused on will be worth it in the long run. As I’m writing this, they WK synced terms are coming in, and it looks like there are easily more than twice the amount of new mastered terms as there are new reviews, so the good news is that overall I’ll save more time than if I didn’t do it this way.

Bad news is that I have 600+ reviews (depending on how many actually end up pouring in) to manually remove from my lessons pool so I can get back to them eventually at a later date.

Overall, though, it might be cool to see a feature where burned reviews in WK get marked as mastered on Bunpro, and nothing else is affected. That might be kinda niche to my situation, though.

Just to update–
Only a few hundred of those new reviews were in Bunpro’s JLPT decks; about 900 of them weren’t. I’m not sure if there was a more efficienct way to do this, but I found a custom deck that contained all the WK terms, and went through and removed them one by one. Took like an hour or two, unfortunately.
That took care of all of them but like ten (not sure why they weren’t in the deck; maybe there were mistakes or WK had been updated after that deck was made). Those last ten I just went into the extra info one by one and removed them.

HUGE pain in the butt, and it’s got me rethinking how I want to approach my study restart.
I’ve been considering resetting back to an earlier level on WK and not even bothering with vocab through bunpro–instead I can just let the WK sync do the heavy lifting. Given how much vocab there is and how much experience I already have with it, I’m thinking it may be worth it to skip studying vocab rn so I don’t risk it drowning out vocab, which is the most important for me to study right now.

Of course, I gotta think about this more for the time being.
