Does あそぶ work here too?

hi, i understand that its trying to make me type する but I just wanted to know if using あそぶ would be natural too, or if する is more natural

Personally ive never seen it with あそぶ… Ive seen あそぶ mostly as a general play. Like kids playing outside. Or hanging out with friends. but for playing things its always する or the like. Youre doing them. Think more like “I do sports” rather than play. スポーツをする
ゲームをする “I do games”

I’ve seen natives use 遊ぶ for video games (frequently), and going by Google if you search in quotations “スポーツを遊ぶ” you can find results
I don’t know how frequent the use is for sports however
