Feedback - Bug Reports

Hey there! The ‘even’ is a key word throughout all hints to indicate that も is probably being used. ‘Whatever’ hints at なに, while the ‘uncertain’ hints at か.

Keeping the key words in there, is there any suggestion you have that would make it a bit easier for you?

The hints say both casual and “very formal”, which one is it?

Thank you all for your patience!

The bug issue where you could not complete N4 because of rogue grammar-point 「ばよかった」 should now be fixed.

I think it’s saying that the long form て+なる construction is formal (行かなくては vs. 行かなきゃ), but the politeness level is casual (ならない vs. なりません).

Formality is not the same as politeness level. The fact that we use “casual” in English to describe a low level of formality or a low level of politeness kinda conflates the two.

Regardless, I agree that it could be worded more clearly in this case.

Sorry for the late reply @colino ! For the new hints (the part at the bottom), the difference between formal, casual and polite is as follows.

Formal - Usually something that is only written/or said in very select cases.
Polite - The use of です/ます/other types of language that aims to honor the listener.
Casual - No use of です/ます, perhaps even a slang form.

For this particular example, since てはならない is almost always written (as opposed to てはいけない which is more common in speech), the clue is ‘formal’. The ‘casual’ part at the top just specifies that it is ならない, rather than the polite てはなりません (ます used).

The audio for this doesn’t match… it’s something else.

I think the audio is saying He said is it alright if he sees it? …
or something around those lines.

Hi, whenever I tap on “Show vocab info” for Vocab reviews, the section below it were the info is supposed to appear just stays blank.

I mainly use the Android app and I’m also able to replicate this issue on Chrome mobile. It’s been like this for three days now.

On the app, if the previous question was for a grammar point, tapping the “Show vocab info” would show the last grammar info instead. There were also times that even grammar infos are mixed up.

Hoping this can be addressed soon so I can complete my Vocab N5 Deck (only 300+ cards remaining).

This has been resolved!

This is already in our pipeline for things to get fixed, hopefully we’re able to knock it out tomorrow to get it all looking good for the weekend. Thanks for the detailed explanation though, I’ll make sure to pass on the info to the devs!

Minor bug here.

When reviewing with both grammar and vocab items in the review deck, going from a grammar item to a vocab item unfocuses the “Your Answer” text field, requiring the user to reselect the “Your Answer” text field to begin typing in the answer.

This only seems to happen when going from a grammar item to a vocab item and does not happen when going from a vocab item to a grammar item (or when going from a vocab item to a vocab item, or when going from a grammar item to a grammer item).

If it is relevant, I am reviewing on the bunpro browser website using chrome and am reviewing grammar points from the N4 deck, and vocab from the N5 deck. Let me know if there’s any additional information that would be useful.

Edit: It would appear that the issue has been fixed as I just did my reviews and had no issue. Thanks for the quick resolution!

I’ve noticed this bug too (app and Chrome mobile).
I always thought it was random but it happens exactly how you explained it.

N3 grammar with N5 vocab reviews. The keyboard no longer automatically appears.

Thanks dev team for fixing the issue! I can now continue learning more Vocab items. 🙇‍♂️

One last thing I forgot to mention because it’s not that a big deal for me, when the review is showing a Vocabulary item, it doesn’t reflect the correct SRS level at the top right of the page.
It’s either stuck on SRS 1 or if the previous review item is for grammar, it shows that grammar point’s SRS level instead. I have to scroll down to see the vocabulary’s actual SRS level.

I actually don’t mind this if it’s at the bottom of your priorities and I just want to bring this to the team’s attention in case no one reported it yet.

Thanks again for your hard work! :+1:

I’m like 99% sure I know what you mean, but do you mind chucking a screenshot here next time you come across it? :cowboy_hat_face:

Same bug, new month. September does not exist.

To Walk has audio that well isn’t about walking at all.

When you start typing in Japanese mode, sometimes the furigana collides with the type.

(cc @Daru )

Not sure if this is the correct thread for the app (IOS), however when clicking the “copy Japanese” in the example sentences, it does not copy.

Just ran into this one. Got a wrong answer, and after clicking “show grammar info”, it showed the grammar point for the previous review I did.

During Study, on Desktop, when you left click on related grammar points, the modal pops up, and you left click outside to return, you get force-jerked back to the top of the page.

This is new. It doesn’t happen when freebrowsing grammar points, just during Study.

I’m on data right now but I can add screenshots/videos later.
Workaround for now is to middleclick to open them in new tabs, or just be patient and scroll back down every time.

Oh yeah I’m on Chrome, on a 1366x768 resolution Windows 10 laptop. It’s 16:9 but not one of the popular ones :stuck_out_tongue:

Just to triple check, do you have auto-show grammar info enabled in settings? Either way (not sure if it matters or not!) this is something we’re actively working on right now. Should hopefully have it done relatively soon! :face_with_monocle:

Hi! Thanks for posting.

Just checking – did you get this error during Cram or during Reviews?
