Feedback - Bug Reports

Haven’t checked if this is already reported, sorry.

When submitting bug reports with the bug button (:beetle:) during a review session (although, possibly at other times while using the site, but I’m not sure about those), I’ve noticed that two things begin to happen.

  1. Text that has been edited within the main text box of the report gets duplicated and is visible below the text box while editing. It remains even after the bug has been submitted.
  2. In this particular bug report (screenshot), I happened to have edited the text quite a bit, and you can see that the number of different copies of the text are overlapped. It seems to me that the more copies get duplicated, the slower my browser’s UI on that page seems to respond. I still have that tab open, and I’m now doing the rest of my reviews, but it is much slower. Whereas typing out this here comment on the forums I experience no slow-down. I suspect that the duplicates of the textbox content are cluttering up the UI’s rendering/etc.

Solving #1 should probably solve #2.

Also, reloading the page will also resolve the issue, but since I’m in the middle of a review session, I suspect that would mess up my ‘wrap up’ queue, so I’m going to trudge ahead despite the slow-down, and then reload.

Hi!

I’m using the Bunpro Android App and there’s a weird bug in the audio of the example sentences - specifically when I click on a word in the sentence, the audios overlap.

I managed to replicate it in a screen recording (around 0:35). In the recording you can also see where I’m tapping exactly, so I hope it’ll be useful for reproducing the bug. Screen_Recording_20231120_111309.mp4 - Google Drive

Apologies if this has been raised before!

If there’s any need of device information please let me know. I don’t know if this is an app issue or maybe just an edge case.

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before.

I’m seeing weird behavior during a cram where my hint selection is reset after every question. Is it possible to maintain it for the whole session?

Ideally the default hint setting for a cram session would reflect the review setting.

Is this currently possible and I’m just missing something?

@Quentin01
If the links are still not working for you, you can try resetting the app settings. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the dashboard.
  2. Tap on the top-left icon.
  3. Click on the gear icon.
  4. Look for the ‘Reset’ button.
  5. Tap on ‘Reset All Data’.

This process should take about a minute, but it should resolve the issue.

@didifbeksiskeodn
Does it happen in the mobile app?

In the iOS app, it seems to be using my review hint settings but it still resets after every question.

@aerastudies
Good news, I have fixed this bug, which turned out to be crazier than I have thought.
The fix will be released with next update.

Have a nice day

Thanks, it’s working with a reset and then a complete close of the application.

This is also happening on iOS 17 and a completely different phone.

Is there anyway to fix this?
Do you need more information?

Hey @Lucas-Emanuel
I am looking into it right now, mind sending an email using “report a bug” feature in the side menu, preferably after the bug happens? This would give me some better logs.
(Main screen → top left icon)

Cheers

Hi there,

I can not reproduce this error right now (it’s working again  ) I changed the preset order of reviews again and now there is no problem anymore. I think I sent the last log on 17th November.

But as said, I can use it again

Sorry for the late response.
N2 example sentences don’t have corresponding questions yet.
When they do, you can mass-convert them into the Fill-in style questions through the settings.

You can check if an individual Vocab has Fill-in questions by visiting its page and checking the Review Type menu (see my low budget screenshot)

Hope this clarifies things!

I’ve reported this with the content team!
TY 🙇‍♂️

My review forecast has been very unpredictable and hasn’t been showing me when my reviews are actually scheduled - an hour shown as empty will give me several reviews, while an hour with several reviews in it won’t give me anything. I’ve tried changing my time zone back and forth and I can’t get it to work properly. Do you have any ideas for what’s going on?

Thanks for the feedback. I can’t even tell what I’m looking at
Never seen anything like this

This is the web-app yeah?
What report button are you pushing? The one inside the Quiz panel (next to the input), or the Send Feedback one right at the bottom of the Vocab?

Are you able to replicate it with all browser plugins disabled?
Seems to be working for me, so if you are, plz let me know the steps 🙇‍♂️

No, it’s in a browser, Firefox latest on Windows. [Oh, by web-app, you mean browser? Ah. Okay, yeah then.]

This one.

Hmmm. I don’t think any of my plugins would affect this. I mean, it’s possible I guess, but I don’t have many plugins, and they are all pretty standard ones.

Hi,
it looks like there is some problem with the WaniKani vocab sync. I’ve recently finished WaniKani and wanted to sync my wanikani vocabulary with bunpro. When I click the button, a progress indicator appears shortly but nothing seems to happen. When looking at the network tab in the devoloper tools, I can see that the request to /settings/user_sync_wanikani_vocab/mark%20known fails with status code 503 after 30s (timeout? maybe because of high number of vocab when WaniKani has been finished?)

Not really a bug but in the Android application the IME isn’t working the same for vocab fill in reviews and grammar reviews.

When typing words ending with “n”, the “n” won’t be transformed to ん (unless typed twice), when doing grammar review it’s ok to leave the “n” but during vocab review it will give a warning asking me to type japanese (“Must be in Japanese”).

I even saw that during grammar review, leaving an untransformed kana in the middle isn’t really an issue.

BTW, @veritas_nz , I’m currently checking some things out on my end, and I’ll give you an update soon. Don’t bother to spend any time on it for now. I’m thinking you were probably right about it being a plugin.
