It’s the polite language that caused the stumble, します なさる いたします いただけませんか いらっしゃる。Then of course once you learn that, it piles up and you forget other stuff that become new ghosts and the cycles continues. Few days had a few jump ups from about 150 a day, to suddenly 500 because of it, and it’s those days where the ghosts come back. My, I even forgot how to spell スプーン. Finally managed to escape it, for how long let’s see.
Overall hasn’t been a good month for making progress with new content.
Ha, I’m redoing N4 now and stumbling on that exact same cluster.
The way they’re taught and hinted is pretty horrible IMO, I’m just accepting they’re going to go in and out of ghost status over and over for the next few months for me.
When I went through that section, I put all the humble speech and honorific speech terms side by side and just tried to memorize which ones belonged to which category. Even then, I still forget after a while but the main idea I believe is that humble lowers the speaker and honorific raises the listener.
