FSRS for Bunpro Please

Can someone explain what is the difference between FSRS and SRS?
Something… Spaced repetition system…

The biggest thing I miss from Anki’s FSRS system is the much shorter stages for new cards that are being learned.

I feel the 4 hours minimum srs stage in BunPro doesn’t work that well for vocabulary.

Subjectively it definitely felt like I could take in new cards much faster with Anki’s FSRS system

Are there any updates on the ETA for FSRS? I’m already 80% of the way though the Kaishi 1.5k Deck on Bunpro. I’d love to keep continuing vocabulary here if possible, but sometimes it does feel like a slog trying to lean new cards with the long (4hr) minimum review time.

This is also my biggest issue. I can forget the same new words over and over and over. A couple minutes is what I need (or a half hour at max). Long initial intervals guarantee I’m never going to remember that word on the first 5+ reviews.

Edit: I usually do my reviews in batches of 25, and I seem to average about 40-55%…pretty bad I’d say.

Bumping for updates please  This would be very nice

That reminded me how I recently couldn’t remember the word 趣(おもむき), and I’m not exaggerating, for 11 attempts straight, some of them within 3 minutes of each other.

I think my learning intervals are 1 minute, 10 minutes, and then 1 day+ depending on self-grade.

Did the “near future” happen? Especially for users converting vocab that they have already learned on some other platforms is difficult. One of the biggest ones for me is wanikani. I’ll have to do like 5k reviews to catch up with vocab here, which with current SRS system will take a literal year I’d guess

Haven’t you guys mentioned that this is basically read and you just need to switch it on? Can you please do so already? It’s really the only negative I have of bunpro, I really love it otherwise.

Also hoping for a quick update on this :bowing_man:

@Jake I understand it’s similar to spamming and doesn’t make much sense to send “+1” but I still want to post here to express my desire for FSRS

Sooo, +1 for FSRS please

Being an annoying bumper here too. I would love to bring my mining deck from Anki to consolidate everything but i find the current SRS system extremely inconsistent

Sorry we haven’t released this yet. It is on our todo list, just blocked by a couple other related things.

@Jake
Any rough timeline? Some of us will stop asking constantly if there’s some idea of when it might come
This year a reasonable assumption?

There seems to be quite a lot of demand for this. Surely that must mean something in terms of priorities for feature development?

As a side note, in one of the communities I’m a part of, there was someone who told me that he quit Bunpro’s grammar SRS and moved it to Anki purely because of dissatisfaction with Bunpro’s current SRS scheduling.

Even though there’s obviously so much more going on Bunpro than just the scheduling algorithm, I do agree that it can be a bit discouraging. Once you get a taste of an algorithm that optimizes to your personal history and goals, it’s a bit difficult to go back to a “one size fits all” one.

+1 for this as well

I’ve switched my vocab back to Anki about 6 months ago and haven’t looked back, and I’ve recently been toying with the idea of doing the same with grammar as well because of how much better the FSRS scheduling is

I’m also (not so) patiently waiting for this as well. I check this forum every day.
