Ah, that explains all the new letters I was seeing during reviews. Very nice

Yes, we are planning on having a translation for everything on the site in the near future!

I’m sure it is great for those who wish to study entirely in Japanese!

Just noticed that the hint still shows during “Wrap-up” of cram, though I guess this might not happen if/when cram is moved over to the 2.0 system:

in cram you only have the hints in japanese and you can’t switch them to english

um…wow. Just using this for like 10 minutes is already useful. What an awesome addition! <3

Glad to hear that! :100: I hope this helps you in your Japanese learning journey!

Is there currently a setting to control the order in which we see the hints. If not, when will there be?

I like this, but is there a way to only see the hint in Japanese while also being able to see the sentence translation? Currently if you want to see the sentence translation you’ll have the hint text in both Japanese and English which I find distracting.

Omg thank you so much. This is such a great idea. I just did my reviews, read the japanese descriptions and got some right away. Although I needed to switch to english for like half of it. The more I will read the descriptions (Every day of course :muscle:,) the more they’ll stick.
Is there like a grammar vocab list or should I just add all the words in the descriptions I don’t know to my anki?

love it and hate it…who turned up the difficulty level to 10

didn’t realize how much I relied on the english hints!!! shame on me

but keep it…this is good… always fun finding new surprises

and agree having a hint order option or a way to see the translation w/o giving away the eng hint would be a nice to have…

LOVE this update. Uh, just one thing though, in the Japanese hint for わずかに it uses the English phrase “wee bit.” Doesn’t this defeat the purpose to use English for some of them?

I’m right there with you. It’s incredibly frustrating in the moment but I can tell that it’s good for me!

I have to admit, some of the hints can be challenging, no shame in using the English hints, they are there for a reason! :muscle: :sunglasses:

@davebp @Slysoft

Do you guys mean like this?

To display it like this, go to Settings > General > Reviews and on Grammar hint order select Translation first. If you do this you will be able to see the translation of the sentence and the Japanese hint! :sunglasses:

Some of the hints contain English phrases so that our students know what the English equivalent of that word/phrase is, and so that they can make a better connection between them.

No. I mean preserve the legacy behavior of seeing the hint in English first.

I love this update, having the hints in Japanese is really helping me get accustomed to reading Japanese dictionary entries, etc. One request: the hints that are now showing up in “Cram” mode don’t display furigana the right way, making it more difficult to read, and breaking any assistive kanji lookup tools you might have installed in the browser.

Keep up the good work! I’ll keep recommending Bunpro to every learner I know

I mean I get that, but isn’t that the point of the English nuance hint?

I have talked about this with some of the other Bunpro staff, and we have decided to keep the Japanese hint strictly Japanese, since we already have a English hint. We have just updated some of the hints and removed English from the Japanese hints! Thank you for the suggestion!
