Katakana is often used for emphasis (or during long strings of hiragana, I’ve seen it used too just to separate the word to make things easier to read). I’ve also read a couple Harry Potter books and よろい came up often enough that it drilled in the meaning for me, haha.

After watching Sailor Moon Japanese, and being curious about localization, this sort of challenge is really interesting. Seeing everyone’s different answers gives me other ideas of how to translate in the future.

This is very true. Seeing everyone else’s answers is also a really good reminder that there is never 1 correct answer.

This was actually the first time I have seen ヨロイ in katakana as well. The types of books I read (light novel fantasy) tend to do it in kanji most of the time. I should read Harry Potter as well!
