Hey bunpro? kinda fudrucked

was cramming a few grammer points when this suddenly came on.

i guess if i ever need to talk about it, i now know. so thats good, i guess?

edit: i know that this has been in the reviews for longer than the current war, it was just weird to see it rn

On the bright side, now’s the most memorable time to review that sentence.

Changing the name of this post.
Probably shouldn’t have swears in the title as recent posts show up on the Dashboard :sunglasses:

if i had to guess, this sentence has probably been on here longer than the recent events.

I think you should take this for what it is which is a contextless and fairly neutral statement written years ago for the sake of learning grammar. I don’t think there is a problem here.

Equally, some people do in fact read international news in Japanese and learning how to do so is also part of learning Japanese. Being able to talk about and understand political and social issues in Japanese is something I’m actively working on right now and so long as nothing overtly or deliberately offensive is being said then I think resources for learners should include such themes. It’s an important topic of conversation to be able to navigate.

I agree this is a nothing burger. Just because the sentence is topical due to recent events doesn’t mean that it’s inherently offensive. We’re all grown ups here…hopefully.

I don’t understand the problem.

Now I wanna learn how to say fudrucked in Japanese

and? I’m confused what the point of the post is.

I also dislike examples with political themes, but this one doesn’t seem to express any strong opinion like taking a side. Additionally, if we’re talking fudrucked examples, then folks over at WK know that this is nothing

Phew…I’m glad to see that we’re not sensitive to the point of demanding that this sentence be removed. When I first saw this post, I chose to ignore it because it was simply a nonissue to me, but was afraid that others would get offended by it (given how easily triggered people seem to get these days).

honestly the sentence’s potential implication of “wow the middle east sure is prone to wars” feels a bit off and the vibes of certain posts in this thread are kind of stinky, but given that the sentence itself is quite old and doesn’t make a specific statement on why those wars occur but simply expresses amazement that “another one” is happening, it’s… eh. probably fine

Ya they do that over there

Yeah, seen it since a year or so in my reviews. It’s quite timeless unfortunately.

I feel that this sentence creates an emotion, which is good from a learning point of view. It’s easier to remember something when it is associated with an emotion. That’s way is preferable to study a language in the country where is spoken, instead of using vocab or grammar books.

not my intention, just wanted to share cause it suprised me.

Glad to hear that! :blush::+1:

It’s just a coincidence that we’re going through such terrible circumstances right now. Someday we will realize that we’re all part of the same planet and learn to coexist with each other. Unfortunately that ain’t happening any time soon, given the way things are still going in the world.
