Is this hint incorrect? I have encountered several ‘check the tense’ hints.
When I ‘show answer’, one of the answers is exactly what was typed.
I believe for these questions they display ‘answers’ in multiple formalities, i.e., かった and 勝ちました, to show different ways of expressing the literal given English sentence, even though they will only accept the tense they are specifically asking for. In your case they appear to be asking for specifically ‘Past, Polite’ in the grey text at the top of the image, so 勝ちました would be the only accepted answer.

Yes, that makes sense. My bad. Honestly the tense and politeness hints at the top, for some reason, my eyes just skip completely over them. No wonder I have been getting so frustrated.

On Tooko554’s point, that’s a good catch. Maybe the hint was copy-pasted for both the polite and casual variant…

I’m home sick today but trying to slog through reviews anyway, since I just got home from a week long vacation and literally this morning finally killed my review backlog, so I didn’t want to lose ground so soon.

It was 隣 (となり). Got it on the second guess, thankfully didn’t drop the rank for this one. That was my original guess, but I changed my mind and entered よこ instead. Should have stuck with my original guess!
bro ts is killing me, I felt the same way last week. Imo the “Visceral Rage” statement is not at all over exaggerated
