How come when I search "よう" in the Grammar search, I only get 3 results?

The only results I get are:

  • のように

  • 〜よう

  • 〜ようと思う

I know there are plenty of grammar points that involve “よう”. How come I only get 3?

The search is a little wonky. For instance, if you type in ようとする it will find you another one but that grammar point is then listed as Verb[Volitional]+ とする.

The 〜ようと思う grammar point is bugged which causes the rest of the results to not show up.

Here is pastebin of the error that is being thrown in the console. This error is being thrown since the internal name of one of the textbooks related to the grammar point has (unescaped) parenthesis in it. minna_no_nihongo_ii_main_textbook_(beginner)

I’ve also experienced this same issue when searching “no” since う - Verbs[ない]is similarly broken with tae_kim's_japanese_grammar_guide

Also here is pastebin of a different, but similar error with search.

I don’t know how I missed this. I had the console open to try to inspect the XHR tab but it doesn’t hit a REST API upon search and just forgot to check the console. Thanks for that. Guess I should report the bug.

You should be seeing it hit a search endpoint. Odd.

:bowing_man: Thank you for pointing this out. I couldn’t figure out what was causing the oddities in the search and I just checked and this helped me find the issue. I have fixed all the ones for よう and will be going through and checking and fixing any others I find.

yay! I’m so glad you guys figured this one out! The search function is so useful that it was kinda sad that it was acting weird.
Thank you everyone for the fix!

I believe I’ve encountered the same error while looking up simply “し” or ”る”.

  • Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: .minna_no_nihongo_i,_translation_&_grammatical_notes

  • Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: .[dbjg]_a_dictionary_of_basic_japanese_grammar

Yep! I just finished going through and fixing the ones that need to be fixed. It should work properly now. Please let me know if you find any others (There shouldn’t be though now  ).
