How do you type roman numerals in the Katakana vocab?

In the early N5 Vocal decks, there is strangely roman numerals in every other early vocab. Examples:

Lサイズ
Tシャツ
Yシャツ

When I type L T or Y into the answers for the Reviews it says “Please only type in Hiragana or Katakana” despite showing that the answer indeed included L T Y.

Super frustrating… have tried so many different solutions but just cant figure out what it wants me to type. Am I missing an obvious solution?!

Thanks in advance in case anyone can help

“L” should be エル, but I’m not sure why the other ones wouldn’t work. Hopefully someone else will give you an answer to those.

Why is “L” not written as “エル”? Is it part of Japanese to be written as such?

Yes, in my experience in those instances the roman letter is written uppercase as-is, and sometimes you get the katakana as furigana.
