How does the community work?

Hey! I’m pretty new to both the Bunpro as a learning tool and the community, but the community especially, since I’ve only developed some interest towards it fairly recently!
Ok, so let’s cut to the chase… I’ve been posting in the Big bunpro race pretty casually, but today when I logged in to add my number or reviews to the bunch, a message appeared saying that new users are limited to only 6 replies to one post.

  1. What do “new users” mean? Do you have to pass a certain level or study a certain number of days to surpass it?
  2. And why does this rule exist? Is it to prevent misinformation or spam? Idk what the dealio and belio is, but the rule doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me, so I hope I won’t sound stupid in retrospect.

ありがとうございました in advance! :cherry_blossom: :hugs:

Hey! Welcome! The community runs on Discourse, which is pretty common now for forums I feel like. Our Trust level settings are the standard ones that discourse sets and haven’t been tweaked in any way, which can be read here:

I think the breakdown of each level should help shed a bit of light as to why they’re in place and what naughty potential users could get up to. It’s very rare we really see anything crazy that needs mod approval, but last week in particular we got 1 instance of a bot trying to link to shady websites. Long story short - browsing the forums more will automatically change your level, but I’ll go ahead and manually edit yours so you can get back to helping the race thread chug along!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have either publicly or privately, happy reading and posting! :cowboy_hat_face:

So basically if you do :
Get to trust level 1 by…

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 30 posts
  • Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts
    Then you have free reign?

Looks like you gotta start posting about how you think possums are really cool. Then everyone will understand that you’re an okay person and you’ll be able to keep using the bunpro race chat.

But I’d guess that the reason for this system is as following: “better safe than sorry”
