How exactly does RESET work? (to BP admins)

I’m considering resetting my progress to zero and starting from scratch to get a bit more practice now that I have finished N5 and N4 grammar.

On the reset page it states that all information associated with each grammar point will be lost, which is perfectly fine, however it doesn’t say anything about other related information.

Specifically the following:

  • Study streak
  • Review session info (i.e. correct, incorrect, percentage, etc.)
  • Historic data for reviews done per day and new items added per day
  • Badges, achievements
  • Anything else?

Will all of the above be reset too or will it be retained?

I’m statistics freak so I’d like to know if all of that stuff would be deleted too before I do anything

@Kuromaku Reviews that you reset will behave as if they have never been added to your review queue. This means that everything on the Review Sessions Stats page will be set to zero for those items. This includes historic data (reviews done per day/items added per day).

Your Cram sessions, badges/achievements, study streak, and self-study questions will be unaffected.

Keep in mind that the XP that you have earned from the grammar points, as well as the level you have attained, will also be reset.

Let us know if you have any more questions. Cheers!

What happens to your study streak if your reset suddenly leaves a day with zero reviews when before you had some before the reset? Aka if your current daily streak is 100 days, and you reset a few grammar points. It turns out on day 50 of your streak all the reviews you did that day was for those grammar points. So suddenly the historical data shows 0 reviews on day 50.

Does the streak remember (and keep remembering) that at one time there were reviews there? Or do the streak change to the day after day 50, so now the streak would be 49?

Just curious.

@MissDagger Resetting your reviews will remove the history of reviews for that grammar point which could lead to holes in the historical data. However, your streak will be unaffected. Bunpro remembers (and continues to remember) your streak, even if you reset. That being said, if you use the recalculate streak option after resetting, Bunpro will use the historical data to set your streak. This means a gap in historical data could cause you to have a lower streak. To sum up, as long as you do not recalculate your streak after your reset and you are consistently doing reviews (Cram reviews count toward your streak too!) your streak will remain intact. Let us know if you have any further questions. Cheers!

Cool, thanks. I was just curious. :3

I learned this the hard way.

eta: I misspoke, it was a timezone change and belated recalculation that threw my streak out of whack.
