How many people have ghosts on, I wonder? I do, so that combined with my slow learning is how I end up with so many. I don’t add that much per day.

If you regularly end up with a lot of reviews unfinished, maybe lower the number of new items per day. It is a diabolic cycle - if you do not do the reviews in time, you forget more, give more wrong answers, the SRS counter eventually goes down and that leads to more reviews.
Unless you have a deadline to finish the N2 deck, try to lower the number of new items, until you reach stage with manageable daily reviews. If you have a deadline for N2, divide the number of remaining items with the number of days you have left and just wade through it.

I have minimal ghosts on. One thing which helped me with ghosts is checking my stats and cramming the “troubled content”. Strengthening the weak points prevents items to end up as ghosts.

On Bunpro, anywhere from 5-30 for grammar. Right now I’m doing a grammar push before I go back to work, so I’m averaging about 20 a day. On KanjiStudy I average around 30ish, on Anki with my kanji deck I average around 60ish. I used to average around 80 but then I suspended nearly all the N5/N4 kanji. I spend about 10 minutes on each platform. I don’t do vocabulary at all, I spend a few hours reading instead.

The amount of reviews you do should correlate with how much immersion you are able to get in most days. If you have time and energy to do a ton long term and still spend hours immersing after, then you may as well do it. If you don’t, pace yourself. Doing reviews for 2 hours a day and no immersion is very bad for retention past the beginner phase. It’s also clearly unreasonable for most people to do more than 1 hour of mindnumbing yes/no spamming per day. If I only had two hours per day to dedicate to Japanese (730 hours a year, might want to put in some extra on weekends to get this up to 1000 per year) I would try to stay within 15 minutes of reviews and put the rest on reading/watching so I get enough input. Not really that viable to immerse that much in the absolute beginner stage though, but around N4 it should be doable with a lot of patience.
The exact number isn’t too interesting but my reviews peaked at 600 9 months in. The main cause was clearly WK and Bunpro SRS just being weak algorithms, but also doing like 3 grammar + 35 new words a day is a bit high. I didn’t use ghosts, I think that’s just giving yourself more reviews (why?).
I would never recommend this to someone who isn’t doing Japanese all day. It’s a recipe for burning out. I don’t know about everyone else, but I have no need for JLPT to move to Japan and I don’t plan on dying in the next decades so it’s not like I have to rush. I am just addicted to the point it is affecting my everyday life negatively (but my Japanese positively so worth it lol).
I still do Japanese practically all day, but I switched to Anki for vocab and dropped new words to 20 and put FSRS at 86% so now I have a modest 220〜 reviews a day (excluding my kanji writing cards) which takes me around an hour because I have an urge to imitate the pitch on nearly all my sentence cards.
A big reason for my lower reviews is obviously lowering my word count, but switching to FSRS and finishing all the bunpro grammar made a huge difference. Making sure that ALL new words added to my reviews are also words I have seen the day before helps a lot. They don’t start from zero, they start from “oh hey I remember this word from yesterday” so I understand the context on how the word was used immediately and don’t need to start from 1D review cycles.

I’m currently doing around 100 grammar reviews a day, plus reading about 240 Anki sentences from N4 to N2 levels. I’ve kept this pace for about six months and plan to continue through the end of the year before easing off. I hope to switch to more natural level of learning like reading, watch media, and the like. and start working another language.

90 reviews + 5 new kanji/vocab for wanikani , 10 grammar points reviews and 10 vocab reviews on bunpro. I wonder how people can do more than 100 reviews on bunpro, unless they just type in their answers without reviewing the examples and grammar explanations, because all of these must take me 2-3 hours per days. Reviewing grammar points (from N4 to N2) takes me a particularly long time.

I have ghosts on too. So I guess an amount of my reviews are ghosts. I don’t add new items everyday. I always check the forecast to see how many reviews I’ll have the next day in the morning, and if I have less than 150, then I usually just add 5 vocab. If there are more, then I don’t add anything.

Around 500 of Anki (mostly vocab) reviews + around 50 Bunpro grammar reviews.

I usually have 25 - 40 Bunpro grammar reviews per day using the Fill In setting, which can take anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes. I use Anki for vocab and usually have around 150 reviews on that daily, taking around 20 minutes.
I usually add 3 Bunpro grammar points per day, I can highly recommend taking points slow and not front loading. I started halfway through N5 in September and am currently a third through N1, set to finish it before the Summer ends.

I was doing like 70 reviews today on bunpro and 130 on wanikani but damn I guess I’ll try to get it up to 170 bunpro after seeing how much y’all do in a day
This is pretty much identical to me - nice to see I’m not alone.
It’s nice to keep it manageable so you don’t burn out, and you very rarely miss a day like this too.

I’m doing everyday on bunpro around 60 reviews (grammar only).
For all the vocabulary, mining deck i’m using anki and doing around 350 reviews per day there everyday.
Takes around 1h10min to do them all
I would say daily, more or less. It’s not a priority, so I don’t sweat it, if I don’t/ cannot do it. With the approach I described, I have minimum troubled items, 6-9 usually.
On a good day I complete all of my reviews, but lately I’ve only been doing 200 out of 300 per day. So if you take that 700 and subtract 300, we’re left with 400 undone reviews. I know this isn’t optimal, and the reason for this pile-up is that I got sick and for a week I could only do about 10 reviews per day just so I wouldn’t lose my streak… That’s why it’s 700 XD.
I guess if I complete all 700 today, tomorrow the review count would be around 200 or 300. I don’t know exactly how Bunpro works. If anyone knows about Bunpro’s review system, I’d love to hear about it. I’m guessing the system has something to do with the level of the vocab or grammar (e.g. beginner, intermediate, adapted, etc.).

I use ghosts for vocabulary and grammar points I’m really bad at. For example, 頃, ている, and especially より. Since I created 2 or more ghosts for each of them, I’ve become much better at them now. So ghosts are an amazing feature in my opinion. (I’m N5/N4)
