During review, if I fail a question it blocks me from moving forward until I type the right answer in, and at the end it says 100% right.
How can I get less than 100%? because I am not actually mastering if I’m fixing it

Just hit enter if you’re on keyboard.
If you are on mobile then hit the → button next to your incorrect answer.
The feature that allows you to retype the answer to the correct one is to give you the option to correct yourself if you made a typo. If you genuinely got the answer wrong then just hit enter twice or push that button and it will count as being incorrect. You will then get another chance at the end of your review session to type in the correct answer.
oh! I see, I was missing the double tapping, thank you!
Welcome to the community, and thanks for the explanation @drunkgome!
Yeah this is indeed confusing for new users, and coincidentally we’re currently in discussions on how to make this clearer
It might be time for a tutorial with some brand new badges to earn
Seriously though, the site has grown so much in utility that most new and even returning users have no idea of all the useful features. From browsing the forums it seems like most people aren’t aware of some features like cram, reading review mode etc. To be completely honest I’m not even sure how the custom sentences work
We have some projects in the works aiming to fix this!
Namely a new FAQs system, new onboarding, tutorial vids.
Looking forward to that custom sentences video 🥹
Any ideas of things you’d like us to cover if we were to make such a video?
hmmmm…Some of the following might be nice
A brief explanation of SRS for those who might not have used it before. You could also show the BP specific SRS levels.
Hotkeys. a brief rundown of all the main ones and a friendly reminder that the little keyboard icon exists.
some overview of settings specific to reviews. Reading vs input mode etc. Also it could be helpful to show people how to change the hint settings.
Ghosts. What they are and the SRS algorithm that governs them. How to set to minimal ghosts and when you might want to reset them.
cram. Where it is, What settings you can use (review type, number of cards per item etc.)
manually adding items to your review Q
WK API and what it allows you to do.
custom sentences, What are they and how can I, I mean we, use them?
These are some i can think of right now, but will come back if i think of any later. It might be more cohesive if you start the tutorial from the POV of a person who just made an account. Show them how to select a deck path and how to integrate their own textbook if they have one. Maybe explain what the BP deck path has to offer.
From there you could show them how to complete a lesson and how to navigate the lesson page. Show them how to mark grammar as known etc. once grammar has been learned, you can cut to 4 hours later to show them how reviews work and how to change the review types. This could be a good segway for the hotkey portion. Thereafter you can show them how to use the extra study options like cram etc.
Nice, we already have most of these topics planned, I meant more for the actual custom sentences topic itself. We can certainly cover things like how to add/use them effectively etc.
Edit - A brief list of videos we are planning along with what they will be about.
(Some videos removed from this list because of the related features not being public yet)
Those all seem awesome. Looking forward to seeing how many of the things you mention I would have already known.
Honestly just the basics of custom sentences would be nice to know. I have 0 idea about what they are or how they integrate into the rest of the experience. To be honest, I could probably tinker and figure it out, but it has been on the low end of my priority list for a while. My main BP goal right now is getting through all of the JLPT levels (160 left in N1). Thereafter I’ll probably give it a better look.
I’m assuming you’re able to add sentences using a particular grammar point and then need to accurately translate the sentence as part of a review system. If that is the case then it might be a good idea to provide some (free and paid for) external resources where one might encounter such grammar points in all their glory. Currently I use Satori reader on and off and was considering flagging the specific grammar points I’ve encountered that looked familiar, but I couldn’t quite remember and then adding them into the custom sentences. If my thinking is correct then it could be really nice to point beginners in the direction of some useful sentence mining resources.
