I open refrigerator? Translation

How to say in Japanese “I open refrigerator?/I close refrigirator”. Which verb to use ひらける or あける, しめる or とじる

Thank you in advance

Hi!

As far as I know, for a door, you would use あける to open and しめる to close.

ひらける is 自動詞, so it would have to be ひらく.

As for とじる, it is used for closing a book, your eyes, a meeting…

HTH!

its not perfect but a lot of the time you can use the jisho sentence search to figure out stuff like this. 冷蔵庫 #sentences - Jisho.org

They have sentences where people open fridges with あける, so it would help with that.

Hey,

I’m still confused about those too and found these ressources quite useful.

On a side note the core difference between あく and ひらく is whether the thing will close by itself afterwards. That why on elevators, trains, or buses always say ドアがひらきます。Because it is automatic and will close on its own. Same goes for things like wounds. 傷口がひらきます。Becuase it will naturally close on its own. Versus 服に穴があく。Because a hole in your clothing will not close by itself it is あく.
