Unfortunately I’m not sure this was fixed. Yesterday (on app version dated Aug 27), the following happened:
(1) I got the question wrong like this:
(2) I clicked the info button and was taken here:
But, I applied everything in that lesson correctly. The mistake I made was with the て conjugation for a Godan verb ending in る. So, arguably I should have been taken to the page explaining how those conjugations work. Alternately, I should be taken to a page explaining that 怒る is a Godan verb (which doesn’t even exist in Bunpro grammar AFAIK). Or both of those things.
Which kind of brings me to a larger issue. When I get a question wrong, one of two things happened:
- I actually failed the grammar pattern being tested.
- I failed to recognize that a verb ending in る was a Godan verb, or that an adjective ending in い was actually a な adjective.
In the case of 2, I get a little bit puzzled about whether or not this is a Bunpro problem or a me probelm. I got on Bunpro under the assumption it would allow me to focus only on grammar. But, without a perfect knowledge of verb and adjective categories… I can’t actually do that. I might start another post about this, because I’m curious what others think. A halfway solution might be to reveal to users (optionally) the categorization of the verb/adjective being conjugated, to allow them to focus only on the grammar patterns.
